Food Is Free – Summer Update

Greetings, Bethel-Bethany family! Here’s an update on our Food is Free project from the steering team. Can you play a part? Or a larger part?

This community service project, which is currently our most visible mission  outreach, has grown over the past year as word has spread (and/or needs have grown?) and the “cupboard” is regularly bare when volunteers show up to restock. That means there is a need and we are making a difference in our community. This means a lot.

That being said, it’s a challenge to keep up lately. FOOD IS FREE would greatly benefit from your help in these ways:

· A few more volunteers. Our corps of volunteers is wonderful, but it’s challenging with summer traveling and life’s inevitable complications. Would any of you who have not yet participated, consider stepping up? Restocking is not difficult, but does require a brief “training” and an hour (or less) of your day. Come any time on whatever day you commit to.

· Filling up the volunteer schedule 2-3 weeks out. This will help minimize stress on the Steering Team. If you can sign up for restocking up to three weeks in advance, that’s awesome! Contact the office for more information.

· Donations of Food, toiletries and cleaning products. These can be left in the foyer on Sunday mornings or placed in the donation tub on the porch of the Community House. · $ Financial donations

· Do you have connections or hot tips to help procure items at discount, or free?
